STORIES FROM THE COMMUNITY
At Legends Life Foundation, we’ve seen firsthand how the right support can change lives. These are the real stories from our community: young participants who’ve overcome adversity, coaches who’ve helped guide them, and parents who’ve witnessed the transformation. Each story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when hope, resilience, and opportunity come together.
Nathan, grew up in what he describes as a “dysfunctional family,” with parents struggling with substance abuse. Raised in housing commission and having dropped out of school, Nathan faced challenges that could have easily led him down a dangerous path. In his own words, without boxing, he believes he would be “dead, in jail, or in a mental institution.

Instead, he chose a different route. After committing to the gym every day, Nathan went on to win the NSW State Championship. He now works full-time, holds a driver’s licence, and is applying for his first passport to travel overseas. Today, he’s a boxing coach at Legends Gym, mentoring the next generation and showing young people that no matter where you come from, there is always a way forward with discipline, support, and belief.

“Boxing isn't just about training, it's about giving young people a place to come and train and learn. I want to help them stay on the right path and out of trouble and boxing is a great tool for that.”
